NEW ORLEANS – Phelps Dunbar LLP is pleased to announce it has elected Bart C. Bacigalupi and Colin B. Cambre of the firm’s New Orleans, Louisiana office to partnership, effective January 1, 2016.
Additionally, R. Gregg Mayer of the Jackson, Mississippi office, Amanda W. Messa of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana office and MaryJo L. Roberts of the New Orleans office have been elevated from associate to counsel.
Bart C. Bacigalupi
Mr. Bacigalupi has practiced law with Phelps Dunbar’s New Orleans office since receiving his J.D. in 2007 and practices in the areas of general business matters, commercial finance, real estate, banking, leasing and other commercial matters. He represents clients in negotiating and drafting of a variety of general business contracts, real estate lease and purchase documents, service and procurement agreements, acquisition agreements, and organizational/governance documents. Commercial finance transactions include vessel finance, real estate finance, interest rate hedge matters, and equipment and inventory finance, representing both borrowers and lenders.
He earned his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2007, where he was a member of the Order of Barristers, and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in 2004.
Colin B. Cambre
Mr. Cambre has practiced law with Phelps Dunbar’s New Orleans office since receiving his J.D. in 2007 and concentrates in the area of admiralty law. He specializes in the areas of maritime personal injury defense and litigation, Jones Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claims, and maritime collision and property damage defense and litigation. He has experience conducting shipboard investigations for vessel collisions, personal injury and cargo damage.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration/law from Louisiana State University in 2004 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2007.
R. Gregg Mayer
Based in the firm’s Jackson, Mississippi office, Mr. Mayer’s practice focuses on business litigation, tort claims, First Amendment protection and appeals. He has represented numerous companies in state and federal court, including for vendor disputes, tort claims, malpractice defense, employment disputes, contact breaches and tax appeals.
He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1997.
Amanda W. Messa
Ms. Messa practices in the area of commercial litigation, with a focus on construction and insurance defense matters. She has represented a number of clients in matters involving construction defects, contract disputes, public bid law disputes, premises liability and general tort liability. She also has experience filing and enforcing liens under both the Private Works Act and the Louisiana Oil Well Lien Act.
She earned her J.D. from Louisiana State University Law Center in 2005 and her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in business administration from LSU.
MaryJo L. Roberts
Ms. Roberts practices in the area of labor and employment. Her practice area encompasses a broad range of labor and employment law disputes including Title VII and state law discrimination, harassment and retaliation litigation, Americans with Disabilities Act litigation, EEOC complaints and investigations, employment contracts, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and wage and garnishment litigation. She litigates a variety of state tort law claims including claims of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery and assault.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, and a certificate in civil law from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2006 and her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of New Orleans in 2002. She has been an associate with Phelps Dunbar since 2007.
