Phelps Dunbar is pleased to announce that the firm's New Orleans office has reopened as of Monday, October 17. The office, located in the downtown area in the Canal Place Office Tower, had been forced to close on August 29 as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The New Orleans attorneys and staff have been working out of the firm’s regional offices since August 29.
“We are part of the New Orleans community and want our prompt return to contribute to the momentum toward renewal,” said Richard N. Dicharry, Managing Partner of Phelps Dunbar LLP. “Over the next few weeks most of the nearly 200 attorneys and staff formerly working in New Orleans should be able to return.”
Phelps Dunbar, a regional law firm headquartered in New Orleans with over 250 attorneys across the southeast, is committed to the restoration of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast communities that have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. The firm’s strong regional presence with offices in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Jackson, Tupelo and Gulfport, Mississippi; Houston, Texas; and Tampa, Florida as well as the professional expertise of the lawyers in those offices uniquely position Phelps Dunbar to be part of what promises to be the largest public and private restoration effort in the history of the United States. Phelps Dunbar is dedicated to seeing that this culturally unique and vitally important region rebuilds and rebounds even stronger than before.
