Phelps Dunbar Ranks First in National Poll on Diversity
In the spring 2002 issue of The Minority Law Journal, Phelps Dunbar received
national recognition for having the highest percentage of African-American lawyers
among the 250 largest law firms in the United States. In its annual survey of
minority hiring at the nation's leading firms, The Minority Law Journal reported
that Phelps Dunbar led the nation in the category of the highest percentage
of African-American lawyers at 7.3 percent of the firm's 220 attorneys are African-American.
The survey was based on data collected by The National Law Journal as part of
its census of the 250 biggest firms in the country. 206 firms provided minority
statistics as of September 2001.
