New Orleans, LA - Phelps Dunbar LLP is pleased to announce that Philip deV.
Claverie, Sr., a partner in the business practice group, has been awarded the
2005 Presidents’ Award by the New Orleans Bar Association. Mr. Claverie was
honored at a ceremony held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at the Hotel
InterContinental, Les Continents Room.
The New Orleans Bar Association Presidents’ Award recognizes attorneys who,
in addition to their professional excellence and integrity, have dedicated
themselves to community service in the exercise of the highest ideals of
citizenship. This award is the highest level of recognition from the
Association.
Mr. Claverie’s practice includes banking, commercial, real estate and
probate. He represents various financial institutions in dozens of transactions
involving financing of real estate construction, mergers and acquisitions and
working capital. He also represents several real estate developers in connection
with various development projects, from major office buildings to shopping
centers.
Mr. Claverie is an active member of the community, serving on the boards of both Children’s Hospital (board member since 1978; executive committee member since 1984; president 1985-1987) and the New Orleans Police Foundation (board member since 1997). In addition, he is a member of the Louisiana State and American Bar Associations. Mr. Claverie was recently recognized in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as a top Louisiana attorney in the categories of Banking & Finance and Real Estate.
