Phelps Dunbar has been recognized once again as a national leader among law firms for diversity by Minority Law Journal and Multicultural Law Magazine.
In its annual survey of the nation's leading firms, the 2008 issue of Minority Law Journal recognized Phelps Dunbar as the third highest firm for percentage of African American lawyers among the 254 largest and highest-grossing law firms in the United States. The publication ranked Phelps Dunbar as having the highest percentage of African American lawyers in 2007, 2006, 2004 and 2002, and one of the top three firms in 2005 and 2003. The 2008 survey was based on data collected by The National Law Journal as part of its census of the country's 250 largest firms ("NLJ 250"), as well as four firms that are included in The American Lawyer's Am Law 200, but are not in the NLJ 250. A total of 211 firms reported data for this year's survey.
The 2008 edition of Multicultural Law Magazine also recognized Phelps Dunbar as a top firm for diversity. The firm is listed in the following diversity categories: Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity, Top 25 Law Firms for African Americans, Top 100 Law Firms for Women, and Top 50 Law Firms for Partners. This is the fourth consecutive year that Phelps Dunbar has been recognized for its diversity by this publication.
Phelps Dunbar is a regional law firm of approximately 260 attorneys, with offices in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Jackson, Tupelo, and Gulfport, Mississippi; Houston, Texas; Tampa, Florida; and London, England.
