The "Florida Legal Elite" selection process began with notifying and inviting members of The Florida Bar to participate in a balloting process. Nominators were asked to provide the names of Florida lawyers they hold in the highest regard, through working with them personally or recommending them to others. Nominators were allowed to cast only one vote and could not vote for themselves. These nominations were then counted by an independent research firm, and a panel of lawyers reviewed and selected those lawyers who received the most votes.
