Phelps Dunbar Attorney Receives Louisiana State Bar Association’s 2008 Pro Bono Publico Award

Phelps Dunbar is pleased to announce that Christopher K. Ralston of the New Orleans office has been recognized as a recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association's (LSBA) 2008 Pro Bono Publico Award. Mr. Ralston was honored at the Annual Awards Presentation that was held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Louisiana Supreme Court in New Orleans.

The LSBA's Pro Bono Award recipients are selected through a nomination process, where the pro bono volunteer, or the services provided, should have at least one of the following characteristics:

Demonstrated dedication to the development and delivery of legal services to the poor through a pro bono program;
Contributed significantly toward developing innovative approaches to delivering volunteer legal services;
Satisfied previously unmet needs extending services to underserved segments of the population;
Litigated pro bono cases that favorably affect the provision of legal services to the poor; or
Achieved legislation that contributed substantially to legal services for the poor.

Mr. Ralston currently serves as the 2007-2008 Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association. He is also a two-time winner of the Distinguished Service Award from the New Orleans Pro Bono Project, in 2007 and 2002. He was also recognized by the Louisiana State Bar Association as the recipient of their Outstanding Young Lawyer Award in 2006.

Mr. Ralston is a partner in the commercial litigation regional practice group in the New Orleans office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of antitrust law, business torts, trial practice, securities litigation and arbitration and intellectual property litigation. Mr. Ralston also serves as a part of the firm's appellate practice. He is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, Fifth Federal Circuit Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Former Federal Law Clerks Association.
