New Partners at Phelps Dunbar LLP

Phelps Dunbar LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has elected four attorneys to the partnership effective January 1, 2008. Two of the partners reside in our New Orleans, LA office and one each in our Baton Rouge, LA and Jackson, MS offices.

Shelton Dennis Blunt is a partner in the litigation practice group in the firm's Baton Rouge office. His practice focuses on business disputes including business torts and insurance company solvency and regulations. He has represented clients across a wide spectrum of industries including education, state and municipal government and insurance on a regional and national basis. Mr. Blunt has extensive trial experience in matters involving corporate governance, having represented clients in directors and officers litigation involving complex claims of business misconduct, fraud, civil RICO, breach of fiduciary duty, and unfair trade practices. His business litigation practice has also included handling Louisiana state and local tax disputes. Mr. Blunt has further represented several large employers including school boards in wage and hour collective action litigation. Mr. Blunt received his LL.M. in litigation from Emory University in 1992 and his J.D., cum laude, from Southern University Law Center in 1991. He received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1988. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana.

Susie Morgan is a partner in the commercial litigation practice group in the firm's New Orleans office. She practices in the areas of governmental relations, antitrust, oil and gas and general commercial litigation. In addition, she has experience in the area of municipal finance relating to bond financings as well as experience with contract and property disputes. She previously served as a Law Clerk to Chief Judge Henry A. Politz in the United States Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit. Ms. Morgan received her J.D. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1980. She received her M.A. and B.A. from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1976 and 1974, respectively. She is admitted to practice in Louisiana.

Christopher K. Ralston is a partner in the commercial litigation regional practice group in the firm's New Orleans office. He practices in the areas of antitrust law, business torts, trade disputes, securities litigation, and intellectual property litigation. He also serves as a part of the firm's appellate practice. Prior to joining Phelps Dunbar, Mr. Ralston was a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Eldon E. Fallon of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Mr. Ralston received his law degree from Tulane University School of Law in 1999, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He received his B.A. in International Relations from the College of William and Mary in 1992. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana.

Bridgforth R. Rutledge is a partner in the business regional practice group in the firm's Jackson office. He practices primarily in the areas of business, finance and real estate, including entity formation, leasing, lending, mergers, asset conveyances, real property conveyances, franchising, intellectual property work and various other commercial transactions. Mr. Rutledge received his J.D., cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law in 1999. He received his B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Millsaps College in 1994. He is admitted to practice in Mississippi.
