Phelps Dunbar Partners Recognized as “Florida’s Legal Elite”

July 06, 2010

Florida Trend magazine recently recognized four of Phelps Dunbar's partners as part of the 2010 "Florida's Legal Elite," a select group comprised of less than two percent of the top lawyers practicing in Florida. The following Phelps Dunbar attorneys were named as "Florida's Legal Elite" for 2010:

Bret M. Feldman is recognized in the area of Construction Litigation. He is a partner in the firm's regional commercial litigation practice group. His practice area includes construction, contracts, product defect litigation, evictions, mortgage foreclosures, title insurance defense, intellectual property, non-competes, insurance, ad valoren taxation, eminent domain and bankruptcy.

Harvey S. Kauget is recognized in the area of Intellectual Property Rights. He is a partner in the firm's regional business practice group in the Tampa office. He practices in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent and trade secret litigation, patent prosecution, IP risk management, portfolio licensing and client counseling, and he has extensive litigation and patent prosecution experience. In addition to his intellectual property litigation experience, Mr. Kauget is a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

John D. Mullen is recognized in the area of Labor & Employment. He is a partner in the firm's regional employment law practice group. His practice includes a joint emphasis in labor and employment law and in securities litigation and arbitration.

John E. Phillips is recognized in the area of Labor & Employment. He is a partner and the practice coordinator of the labor and employment group in the Tampa office and a member of the firm's regional labor and employment practice group. He represents employer clients in labor and employment matters throughout the state of Florida, and regularly appears in Florida's state and federal courts.

"Florida's Legal Elite" selection process began with notifying and inviting members of The Florida Bar to participate in a balloting process. Nominators were asked to provide the names of Florida lawyers they hold in the highest regard, through working with them personally or recommending them to others. These nominations were then counted by an independent research firm, and a panel of previous Legal Elite winners, representing different practice areas in cities across the state, reviewed the selection process and the list of finalists. The resulting list of 1,160 attorneys represents approximately 1.8% of the over 64,000 active Florida Bar members who practice in the state.

Phelps Dunbar is a regional law firm of more than 280 attorneys, with offices in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Jackson, Tupelo, and Gulfport, Mississippi; Houston, Texas; Tampa, Florida; Mobile, Alabama; and London, England.
