Phelps Dunbar Partner Appointed to Multiple Leadership Roles in the American Health Lawyers Association

Phelps Dunbar LLP is pleased to announce that Dinetia M. Newman, a partner in the firm's Tupelo office, has been appointed to the American Health Lawyers Association's (AHLA) Nominating Committee and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, as well as Chair of the Practice Groups Board Committee. The AHLA Practice Groups are composed of members from across the country who desire to increase their level of expertise and knowledge in the health law field and who share a similar work setting or interest in one of 15 unique areas. The AHLA is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field. Ms. Newman previously served as the Chair of the AHLA Quality Council.

Ms. Newman represents hospital and physician clients on Medicare and Medicaid payment issues, both Parts A and B, Medicaid issues and Anti-kickback Act and Stark issues. Her health law practice includes assisting clients in structuring business arrangements in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid billing rules, assisting in preparation and negotiation of a variety of contractual arrangements between hospitals and physicians, advising clients regarding state certificate-of-need laws and other state licensure issues and assisting clients in developing and implementing corporate compliance programs regarding Medicare billing issues, Anti-kickback Act and Stark.
