Cliff is a partner in the general litigation group in the Jackson office. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation and business transactions. His litigation practice involves many types of business disputes and corporate and securities matters, including securities fraud, financial institution issues, director and officer liability, and breach of contracts. Cliff frequently advises corporate boards of directors concerning duties and responsibilities of board members, corporate procedure, and board decisions concerning pending or threatened litigation. He has provided representation for and against securities broker/dealers in arbitration proceedings before panels designated by the National Association of Securities Dealers and also practices in the area of business and finance, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions.
Cliff has been designated as an expert witness in cases involving alleged lawyer malpractice in corporate transactions and duties of corporate directors. In addition to the practice of law, Cliff was a professor at the University of Mississippi School of Law from 1974 until 1982, where he taught courses in securities regulation, corporations, banking law, and antitrust. He is also among a select group of lawyers, recognized in the categories of Corporate/Commercial and Litigation: General Commercial, listed in a nationwide client survey published in Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
