Practice
Brett practices primarily with the labor and employment group in the Jackson office. He also dedicates a portion of his practice to handling appellate and general litigation matters. Prior to joining Phelps Dunbar, he served as a law clerk to Judge E. Grady Jolly of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

- Represented nationwide trade association in challenging state "pay or play" benefits law; federal appeals court affirmed summary judgment for association on ERISA preemption grounds.
- Successfully represented national, regional, and Mississippi employers in Title VII, ADEA, and FMLA matters before various federal courts.
- Successfully represented Mississippi municipalities in appeals to the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals concerning employment and constitutional matters.
